Smart Classrooms, also called technology enhanced classrooms, create new opportunities in teaching and learning by integrating networking, digital, and audio visual technologies.

There are ninety-two (92), Registrar scheduled Smart Classrooms on the Evanston campus for faculty use. Sixty-one (61) of these classrooms are Laptop-based* Smart Classrooms and twelve (12) of these are Laptop-Based* seminar classrooms located in the main Library, that use Library Projection Systems.

NUIT Academic Technologies supports the technology in these rooms and encourages you to contact us at 7-ROOM (7-7666) to schedule an orientation to learn more about these classroom facilities.

These, and all classrooms are scheduled for use by the Office of the Registrar.

Smart classrooms are equipped with the following:

• Ceiling mounted LCD projector and projection screen

• Laptop connectivity for both Macintosh & PC

• VCR

• DVD

• Sound system

• Wireless mouse

• Touchscreen Control system

• Telephone

• AUX-video Input

• USB Input

Depending on the classroom, other equipment may include:

• Resident networked Mac or/and PC w/DVD and Zip Drive*

(over 30 software titles available)

• Microphone (wireless handheld and/or lavalier)

• Slide projector

• Stereo Sound

• Document Reader

Library Projection Systems are equipped with the following and only available in the Main Library:

• LCD projector

• Tabletop screen

• Cables for laptop projector hookup and network connectivity

• Mobile cart

These systems are available for check-out for use in the Library Laptop-Based* seminar classrooms. Please contact the Library Infocommons at 491-7658 to reserve the classroom and the equipment.
To schedule training on use of the Library Presentation Systems, call the 7-ROOM number to schedule an orientation. Please note that you must reserve and check-out the equipment for the orientation.

*Special Note: Because there is no resident computer in the Laptop-based Smart Classrooms, we encourage you to bring your own laptop with you for training.
